Pinstripe Lane added a second career victory to his name with a dominant win at Rosehill yesterday afternoon. The WS-bred and sold son of Pins has been patiently handled and showed pleasing improvement on a previous fourth placing to take the major honours over 1900 metres.
“He’ll go to the Gr.3 Grand Prix (May 24) and two weeks later he’ll go to the Gr.1 Queensland Derby (June 7),” explained trainer Troy Corstens.
The promising Derby-bound colt, who has been Group Two placed, also drew further attention to his weanling half-brother by O’Reilly, who will be offered as Lot 162 by WS at Karaka on Monday. They are out of the Danasinga mare Singasong, whose four foals to race have all been winners.
Singasong is a half-sister to Hamlet’s Ghost who as Jackpot Delight ran second in the Gr 1 Hong Kong Derby. The feature names in the pedigree are the Group One winners Virage De Fortune (Australia Stakes, QTC Sires’ Produce Stakes), Railings (Caulfield Cup) and Rumya (Greyville Golden Slipper).
