Strong Opening Day Trade At Easter Sale

WS’s colt by resident champion sire Pins realised $A160,000 on the opening day of the Sydney Easter Yearling Sale. Purchased by New South Wales interests, he is a son of the Gold Brose mare Zamfir who won five races and was stakes placed in the Opunake Cup.

She is a daughter of the former top-class mare Society Bay who was the dual Gr 2 winner of the Edward Manifold Stakes and the Veuve Cliquot Stakes. She finished runner-up in the Gr 1 Stradbroke Handicap and at stud also produced eight winners, including Society Beau (Gr 2 Japan-NZ International Trophy).

As agent, William Inglis purchased the well-related Pins colt out of the multiple winner Fiaba for $A135,000. From the family of two-time Gr 1 winner Glamour Puss, she is a half-sister to the Gr 3 Lion Red Plate winner Crepe De Chine, the former champion Singapore spirnter Arenti and the stakes winner Glam Slam.

WS’s other lot on the opening day of the sale was the half-brother by Savabeel to the Gr 1 Queensland Derby winner Lachlan River. From the family of the dual Gr 1 Oakleigh Plate and Salinger Stakes winner Sudurka, he was bought for $A70,000 by leading trainer Grahame Begg.
