WS draft draws keen international interest

WS has made a solid start in the defence of their leading vendor title at Karaka on the opening day of the Premier Sale. As expected, their formidable K1 line-up were popular with overseas buyers chasing down the top offerings by O’Reilly, Pins and Savabeel.

Cambridge agent Dean Hawthorne, acting on behalf of Victorian interests, went to $400,000 for the filly by the late O’Reilly from Make A Wish. A grandson of the Group winner Starcent, she is from the family of the dynamic Gr.1 Telegraph Handicap winner Sacred Star.

Champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller also dug deep for a daughter of O’Reilly, going to $340,000 for the filly out of Pretty. She is from the celebrated family of the multiple Group One winners Glamour Puss and Vision And Power.

A Pins filly out of Lowland and a daughter of Savabeel both sold exceedingly well at $300,000 apiece. The former, bought by English interests, is out of the Centaine mare Lowland and the family of WS multiple top-flight winner Legs while the latter is out of a half-sister to the international home-bred champion Starcraft. She was purchased by Brendan and Jo Lindsay.
