Double Delight In Melbourne
28 June 2011
A pair of promising WS graduates combined to credit the Matamata farm with a winning double in Melbourne yesterday. Pins’ daughter Attivita got the ball rolling at Echuca and the Savabeel four-year-old Dublin Darlin finished the meeting off in style.
Both are lightly-tried gallopers with Attivita now the winner of two of her five starts having broken her maiden at Geelong earlier this month. She is trained by Peter Moody who purchased the three-year-old out of WS’s 2009 Premier Sale team for $27,500.
Attivita is a sister to the Lisa Latta-trained multiple winner Jack’s Point and the Awapuni trainer went to $45,000 to purchase their half-sister by O’Reilly at Karaka earlier this year. Their dam is the winning Kinjite mare Activate who is a three-quarter sister to the Gr 2 Sha Tin Vase winner Astimonti and the Gr 3 Summer Cup winner Zanetta.
Dublin Darlin continued her grand form since she has been stepped up over ground by Bendigo trainer Shaun Dwyer. She won at her middle distance debut at the end of May and yesterday repeated that performance in a higher grade over 2100 metres.
She was bought by Dwyer for $30,000 out of WS’s Select Sale draft to Karaka in 2008. She is a daughter of the winning Nassipour mare Jewel Of Ireland, who was also stakes placed in the Belmont Oaks, who is out of a half-sister to the crack Hong Kong galloper Indigenous (Champions & Chater Cup-twice, HK Gold Cup-twice).
