Two Maiden Winners To Watch
24 February 2012
Youtoofast and Lady Platinum completed a winning Woodville treble for Waikato Stud when they cleared maiden ranks. Trained by Guy Lowry and Grant Cullen, Youtoofast had placed in one of her two starts last year before she was put aside to develop.
She was purchased out of WS’s 2010 Premier Yearling Sale draft by agent Bruce Perry for $50,000. By Fast ‘N’ Famous, she is out of the O’Reilly mare You Too from the family of the farm’s two-time Gr 1 winner Glamour Puss (Goodwood Handicap, Salinger Stakes).
Lady Platinum was a $60,000 buy for trainer Lisa Latta from WS’s Select Sale consignment in 2010. Also by Savabeel, she will now head toward the Gr 1 New Zealand Oaks. “She’s always running on and I think she deserves a place in the Oaks field,” Latta said.
She is out of the Pompeii Court mare Two Time Tart who won six races up to 2100 metres. She is from a family the Wanganui breeders Nigel and Adaire Auret have enjoyed great success with and features their champion juvenile Pompeii Pearl, the Gr 1 NZ Breeders’ Stakes winner Saint Cecile and the Gr 1 NZ Derby runner-up Mettre en Jeu.
