Princess Far Too Sharp
4 September 2011
Sharp Princess’ class shone brightly at Wanganui on Saturday when the quality mare successfully returned to competition. The six-year-old was resuming after a winter break and with the benefit of a recent trial outing she proved far superior to her open class rivals.
Trained at Marton by Fraser Auret, the WS graduate has now won six races including the Listed South Island Breeders’ Stakes. She has also placed among the best and last preparation finished in the money at Gr 1 level in the Zabeel Classic and the Darci Brahma International. She gained further black-type credits in the Gr 2 Cal Isuzu Stakes, the Gr 3 Taranaki Breeders’ Stakes and Taranaki Cup and at Listed level in the Manawatu Breeders’ Stakes and the Anniversary Handicap.
Originally sold by WS for $75,000 out of their 2007 Select Sale line-up, Sharp Princess is out of the O’Reilly mare She’s Snubbed who is out of a half-sister to the multiple Gr 1 winner and productive broodmare Slight Chance. She won six times at the top level in Australia and is the dam of successful sire Dane Shadow (Gr 3 Ming Dynasty Handicap) and Salgado (Gr 3 Sandown Stakes).
