Frockstar Graduates In Good Style

A mare with a Gr 1 pedigree opened her account at Taupo today with her trainer confident further success is in store for the four-year-old. The WS-bred and raced Frockstar capped off a number of strong lead-up efforts to break her maiden in good style over 1200 metres.

“I’m really happy for Waikato Stud and they have supported me right from day one,” Hastings horseman John Bary said. “I’ve got an opinion of her and think I can take her through the grades. A daughter of Pins, she has been lightly-tried and had placed in three of her previous career appearances.

Out of the American-bred Forty Niner mare Nicole’s Niner, Frockstar is a half-sister to the WS-sold Singapore Horse of the Year Currency who won 10 races, including the Raffles Cup and the Singapore Guineas. Their second dam Miss Josh was a top-class American racemare whose career highlight was victory in the Gr 1 Hollywood Gamely Handicap.

Frockstar’s success completed a winning double for Pins who was earlier represented by the impressive maiden graduate Manny Pacuiao. “He had trained up super and I was very confident he would run a huge race,” Matamata trainer Jason Bridgman said. “He’s a horse who’s had a lot of issues but we’ve persevered and got him 100 percent and he’s showed just what he can do.”
