Ocean park causes more waves

WS again set a strong early pace on the closing day of the Select Sale at Karaka, courtesy of a smart son of Ocean Park. The colt was the farm’s first offering and was snapped up by Ardmore trainer Jenna Mahoney for $120,000.
He is out of the winning Fast ‘N’ Famous mare Hope So, who is a half-sister to the Group One winner Lachlan River (Queensland Derby). Flashing Star and French Bid are other Australian black type winners in the family.
Michael Breslin bagged a classy daughter of Savabeel for his Awapuni stable at Karaka this afternoon. He went to $100,000 to secure the filly out of I Que. The dam is a half-sister by O’Reilly to the Listed New Zealand St Leger winner Ritzy Lady and the international family of the South African Group winners Hancock Park and Park Lane.
Meanwhile, Cambridge trainer Tim Carter parted with $90,000 for an O’Reilly filly. She is out of the multiple winner Mary Ellen, a three-quarter sister to the Gr 2 Hawke’s Bay Cup winner Valley Chief.
