Sharrock has stars on horizon

Allan Sharrock has a pair of exciting four-year-olds to ensure a smooth changing of the guard at his New Plymouth stable later this year.
The Taranaki trainer is guiding the outstanding mare I Do through the closing stages of her career and in Kawi and The Bold One he has replacements to keep him to the fore at stakes level.
“I think they are both Group horses, their sectionals suggest they can make the grade and I’m lucky to have them,” Sharrock said.
I Do will be served by Waikato Stud’s Savabeel on Thursday and the Gr.1 Makfi Challenge Stakes winner will then return to Sharrock to prepare for the Gr.3 Rich Hill Stud Taranaki Breeders’ Stakes at Hawera on October 11.
“I’ve always wanted to win that race and she should be pretty hard to beat in that at set weights,” he said.
“There’s the Captain Cook at Trentham for her and we might have a look at the Zabeel Classic – I’d love to run her at 2000 metres.”
Barn mate Kawi has won three of his seven starts and hasn’t raced since he beat the highly-regarded Angelica Hall at Awapuni in March.
The Bold One ran up to his pedigree on debut with a first-up win at Trentham in the autumn and the son of Fastnet Rock and the dual Group One winner The Jewel was put aside after he finished fourth in the Gr.3 Cambridge JC Breeders’ Stakes.
“Kawi will be having his third jump-out here on Monday and he’ll then kick off at Hawera or Trentham – he’s come up really well,” Sharrock said.
“The Bold One will run on the last day at Hastings (October 4) in a Rating 65 1200 and he’s going enormous.
“Both horses are physically bigger and mentally different so there’s a lot to look forward to with them.” – NZ Racing Desk.
