Pins’ Red Hot Run Continues

The good times rolled on to the international scene for Pins last night when he sired a winning double at Sha Tin which included the evening’s Gr 1 feature.The WS stallion enjoyed outstanding success on Saturday with his son Icepin landing the Gr 2 Avondale Guineas while the juvenile Antonio Lombardo won the Gr 3 Waikato Stud-sponsored Two-Year-Old Classic at New Plymouth.

Pins was the stallion star of the Sha Tin show with his four-year-old Ambitious Dragon dominant in the Hong Kong Classic Cup to join El Segundo (Cox Plate, Caulfield Stakes, Underwood Stakes, Orr Stakes), Katie Lee (NZ 1000-2000 Guineas), Legs (NZ Oaks, Kelt Capital Stakes), Econsul (Caulfield Guineas) and Porotene Gem (Levin Classic) as winners at the highest level for the WS-based son of Snippets. Trained by Tony Millard, the four-year-old Ambitious Dragon has now won five of his 10 starts and last night’s victory came at his first crack at stakes company.

Earlier on the Sha Tin programme, the WS-bred and sold Pins five-year-old Forest Star was successful in class four company over 1400 metres to post the third victory of his career. A $130,000 purchase for the Hong Kong Jockey Club at Karaka in 2007, he is out of the Centaine mare Ever Clever and a half-brother to the stakes winner Ritzy Lady. WS’s Easter Sydney yearling draft will include another half-sister by O’Reilly.
