Savabeel Tops NZB Weanling Sale

Savabeel ended NZB’s National Weanling Sale on a high as the leading stallion by average and the sire of the auction’s top lot. WS’s Cox Plate-winning son of Zabeel had seven lots sell for $311,000 at an average of $44,429 and his leading colt was sold for $115,000.
WS ended the session as the second leading vendor by aggregate with 27 lots sold for $318,450 behind Curraghmore, whose son of Savabeel was the auction’s best-seller. He went to Bruce and Maureen Harvey’s Ascot Farm.
Savabeel was also in the action for WS’s draft, selling the first foal out of Read My Lips (Pins) to NZB as agent for $20,000. The colt is from a strong female family with second dam Look at Moiye a stakes performer and the third dam is the Gr 1 NZ 2000 Guineas winner Facing The Music.

WS-bred On The Lash scores at Sha Tin
Twenty-four hours following the final WS Cox Plate meeting run on the Moonee Valley track of old before it shuts for two years to make way for a new precinct, the race’s 2004 winner, Savabeel, continued his roll of runners, and this time it was via five-year-old On The Lash (ex Candelabra) at Sha Tin.
