Tomorrowland back to full fitness

A trouble free week with Tomorrowland has Danica Guy upbeat about her quality sprinter’s prospects of another successful visit to the central districts.
The Listed Levin Stakes winner will look to put a lack-lustre last-start performance behind him when he tackles Saturday’s Gr.2 Kamada Park Manawatu Challenge Stakes at Awapuni.

Tomorrowland tailed the field home in the Listed J Swap Sprint, but Guy said the horse had overcome issues that brought about his downfall at Te Rapa.
“He was suffering from bruised front feet and he was a bit fresh – I hadn’t been able to get the pace work into him.

“He’s been 100 percent this week and he’s in a better frame of mind. I’m much happier with him going into this race and he’s proved he can carry weight.”
Guy believes the presence of the Gary Vile-trained Miss Appleton could also be vital to Tomorrowland’s chances.

“She led him up at Otaki and I’m hoping she flies the gates again and we can get across behind her,” she said. “He needs to get some cover.”
Another runner looking to put a last-start defeat behind him is Kawi after he got back in a slowly run Gr.1 Captain Cook Stakes and was unable to make an impression in the straight.

Johnathon Parkes, who formed a successful partnership with the gelding prior to an untimely suspension, will be reunited at Awapuni with Kawi.
The Wanganui-based jockey has ridden the Savabeel five-year-old six times for three wins, including the Gr.3 Taranaki Cup and the Listed Anniversary Handicap. They were also Group One placed in the Easter Handicap. – NZ Racing Desk.
