Nippin Shows True Colours

Nippin staged an impressive return to his best form at Te Rapa on Saturday and rider Jonathan Riddell is predicting further improvement from the four-year-old. Bred and sold by WS, the Allan Sharrock-trained son of Pins came from well back in the field with a driving finish to account for his Rating 75 sprint opposition.

“I rode him totally different to what Allan told me, he wanted him in the first five or six, but it worked out and he really found the line strongly,” Riddell said. ‘He’s a nice horse and once he gets over more of a trip he’ll be even better.”

A $210,000 Premier Sale purchase in 2009, Nippin is out of the well-related Centaine mare Wait A Minute. She is a sister to the Gr 1 Arrowfield Stud Stakes winner Sixty Seconds from the family of the dual Gr 1 New Zealand Oaks and Kelt Capital Stakes inner Legs.
