Colt first stakes success for Ocean Park

Former New Zealand Horse of the Year and multiple Group One winner Ocean Park has produced his first stakes performer. His progressive son Ocean’s Fourteen turned in a bold performance this afternoon to finish runner-up in the Listed Geelong Classic.
The WS-based stallion has sired six individual runners from light representation, among them the Aaron Purcell-trained colt Ocean’s Fourteen. He broke his maiden over a mile at Donald earlier this month and showed black type company held no fears with his latest performance.
A $325,000 Karaka yearling, he is a son of the dual Group Two winner Ruud Van Slaats. The Van Nistelrooy mare, whose pedigree boasts the presence of the former champion juvenile Ruud Awakening, is also the dam of the winners and stakes performers Savvan (Savabeel) and Smashing (Pins).

Ocean Park Trans-Tasman Double
With Andrew Forsman’s 3yo Ocean Park filly Pine Leaf breaking her maiden by a widening four and a quarter-lengths in the last at Cambridge on Wednesday, celebrations continued as just ten minutes later it was the Chirs Waller trained Velaris who saluted at Canterbury with fellow Ocean Park runner I Park finishing a gallant third.
