Diademe One To Follow

A bright staying future has been predicted for the Savabeel mare Diademe, who struck early in her career at Te Rapa. The patiently-handled four-year-old had finished runner-up in her two previous appearances and was a strong winner yesterday at just start three.
“She needed the mile and a lot of hard work has gone into this mare,” said co-trainer Andrew Forsman, who prepares Diademe for owner Scott Richardson. “She’s been slow to develop both mentally and physically, but she’s getting there now.”
Diademe was given a perfect run behind the pace by Opie Bosson, who was off the fence before the top of the straight. They pounced 150 metres from home and forged clear to win with authority.
A $50,000 Karaka purchase from WS’s 2010 draft, Diademe is out of the unraced O’Reilly mare Bling. She is from the family of the dual Gr.3 Gold Trail and Lowland Stakes winner Starcent (Centaine), who was also a multiple Gr.1 placegetter in the NZ 1000 Guineas and the Bayer Classic.
