Savvy filly sharp on home track

Lightly-raced filly Real Savvy made the most of her home track advantage today. The WS-bred three-year-old was a commanding maiden winner over a mile at Matamata where she is trained by Lance O’Sullivvan and Andrew Scott.

“It was a nice ride by Michael (McNab) and as she was coming back from 2000 metres we asked him to get her into the clear nice and early,” Scott said. “She finished off really strongly. Hopefully she can keep cracking on now, it was a really encouraging run.”

McNab hadn’t ridden the daughter of Savabeel before, but he was impressed. “I was three back on the fence and able to get off when I wanted and she quickened up nicely,” he said. “She’s not very big, but she’ll strengthen up, and it was a good effort.”

Bought out of WS’s 2014 Select Sale draft to Karaka in 2014, Real Savvy is a half-sister to the stakes performer Mosh Pit. Their dam Ten Guitars is an unraced half-sister by Danasinga to the multiple Australian Group Two winner Century Kid (Centaine).
