Savabeel filly set for higher honours

Date Night is in the right form to add further black type credits to her family’s roll of honour. She was an impressive maiden winner at Ellerslie this evening to earn a crack at stakes company in the near future.
The Savabeel three-year-old finished runner-up at Te Awamutu at her previous appearance and she had no trouble in going one better. The three-year-old was slotted into a handy spot one off the rail from a wide draw by rider Cameron Lammas and they proved far too good in the run home.
“I wanted to get her out of maidens and she did it very well,” said Debbie Rogerson, who trains with her husband Graeme. “That will give her confidence and she can go on to better things, Listed and Group races.”
Bred and raced by WS, she is a daughter of the O’Reilly mare Dating who was the dual Group Three winner of the Desert Gold Stakes and the Taranaki Breeders’ Stakes. Date Night’s brother (Lot 122) will be offered by the farm during the Premier session at Karaka in 2017.
