Crack WS Family Adds To Record

One of WS’s most prolific families was again to the fore in Melbourne yesterday when Meaisin struck the first winning blow of his brief career. The three-year-old son of Zabeel was a clear-cut winner of his 1500 metre maiden at Yarra Glen for trainer Danny O’Brien, who went to $300,000 to secure him from the Matamata farm’s 2009 Premier Sale draft at Karaka.

Meaisin is out of the Housebuster mare Rationable and is a half-brother to five winners, including O’Brien’s Gr 2 Makybe Diva Stakes winner Vigor (O’Reilly), Gr 2 Avondale Guineas winner Joey Massino (O’Reilly) and Vincent Mangano (No Excuse Needed) who has been successful four times at stakes level. The second dam Rationale was a Gr 2 Great Northern Guineas winner and it is also the family of Amalfi (Gr 1 VRC Derby and Gold Onyx (Gr 1 SA Premier’s Champion Stakes).

WS will offer a son of champion resident stallion O’Reilly and Rationable during the Premier session of the upcoming NZ Bloodstock National Yearling Sales at Karaka. Also featuring in the colt’s pedigree is this season’s Listed Wellesley Stakes winner Antonio Lombardo.

WS-breds shine at the Racing Victoria Off The Track Carnival

Last weekend saw many retired racehorses and their careers compete in various disciplines, and one star who shone brightly was Eden Pearson’s 10-year-old ott horse, Tango. Once racing as Does It (Pins ex Just Be Cos), Tango raced 45 times, winning on five occasions and accumulating prizemoney of $275,550 before retiring in June 2024.
