Coldplay completes hot double
23 October 2015
Better company awaits Coldplay completed a winning double for WS at Te Aroha on Wednesday. A strong third at her Taupo debut earlier this month set her out an even money favourite and the three-year-old daughter of Savabeel justified her short odds.
“Having that run under her belt helped her,” said Andrew Forsman, who trains the filly with Murray Baker. “Her trials were a bit short and on bad tracks and she needed to get up to 1400 metres on a better surface. She’s a tough Savabeel who will only improve with racing and there’s some nice fillies’ options for her.”
Like WS’s earlier Te Aroha winner Trigger, Coldplay was ridden by Caulfield Cup hero Opie Bosson. “She’s still developing and hasn’t quite lost her coat, but she’s a nice filly,” he said.
A half-sister to the multiple winner Cold Snap (Pins), Coldplay is out of the O’Reilly mare Forty Two Below, who is a sister to the Australian stakes winner Icy Calm.
