Bridgman Glad His Plan Pays Off

A pre-race plan worked to perfection for the WS-bred and owned Glad in the clsoing event at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day.

The Pins four-year-old races three back on the inner and powered home late for the third victory of her brief career.

“We hatched a plan to take the inside avenues,” trainer Jason Bridgman said. “We rode her for a bit of luck and it paid off.”

Rider Matt Cameron brought the mare with a storming finish to beat her Rating 85 rivals.

Bridgman said Glad was now likely to be prepared for a black-type target during the Wellington Cup carnival. “She might make it into the Listed Anniversary off a lovely weight. She went a couple of cracking races last season in the Sunline Vase ands then again with no luck in the Manawatu Classic and I think she’s in for a good season.”

Out of the winning Rory’s Jester mare McHappy, Glad is now building the race record to match her pedigree – she is from the family of the superstar sprinter Black Caviar.
