Singasong Hits Another High Note

Singasong has proved a valuable mare for WS in the sales ring with a six figure Karaka average for seven yearlings sold. The winning Danasinga mare is from a proven Australian family and it was across the Tasman at Kembla Grange yesterday that she was credited with her latest racing success.

The David Payne-trained Singing To Win was guided to the opening win of his fledgling career by Jason Collett over 1500 metres. A $170,000 NZB National Yearling Sale purchase from WS’s 2011 consignment, the three-year-old’s victory was no surprise as he had weighed in three times from his previous five outings.

A half-brother to two winners, Singing To Win’s dam Singasong is a sister to the Gr 1 Hong Kong Derby runner-up Jackpot Delight, who raced and won in New Zealand as Hamlet’s Ghost. Their grand-dam is the former champion mare Emancipation and recent international Group One form has been brought to the family by the Kiwi-bred Gr.1 Greyville Golden Slipper and Cape Fillies’ Guineas winner Rumya.
