Savabeel Colt Shines On Opening Day

A son of Savabeel was the headline act for WS on day one of NZ Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sales series at Karaka today. The colt was purchased by Singapore-based trainer Michael Freedman and Cambridge agent Michael Wallance for $170,000.
He is out of the Danasinga mare Go Our Dana, who won four races, and her only foal to race Agent (Pins) has been a winner. The dam is a half-sister to the multiple winner Pinmdown (Pins), who was also stakes placed.
Leading Sydney trainer John O’Shea took a shine to the O’Reilly colt out of the Zabeel mare Etoile du Nord, winner of the Listed Marton Cup, and secured him for $160,000. Earlier in the session the Hong Kong Jockey Club signed for the colt by Pins out of the O’Reilly mare Zephyr O’ for $150,000.
A Pins filly out of Glitzy was knocked down to Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker for $100,000. She is a sister to the smart Sydney performer Glintz who has won five and was runner-up in the Gr 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup.
The daughter of Pins and Vanilla Sky was purchased for $80,000 by fellow Matamata farm Mapperley Stud while trainer Lance Noble went to $75,000 for the O’Reilly filly out of Cenphic. He prepared the sister Irlanda ton win six races, including the Gr 2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes.
