Quality Pins colt to Wexford

A well-related son of Pins will be calling Wexford Stables home after he was purchased by the successful Matamata operation at Karaka. He took the eye of trainers Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott on the final day of the Select Sale and was snapped up for $140,000.

Out of the unraced No Excuse Needed mare Just Be Cos, he is closely-related to the Listed Lion Red Plate winner and Group One placegetter Raid (Pins). The pedigree also features the presence of the multiple elite level winner Virage de Fortune and the Queensland Derby runner-up Pinstripe Lane (Pins).

Malaysian interests also showed their fondness for Pins and parted with $125,000 for the colt out of the Centaine mare Centelise. He is a full or half-brother to four other winners and is from the family of the multiple Group One winner and successful sire Grosvenor.

Meanwhile, a brother to WS’s talented mare Genius went to Hong Kong’s J & I Bloodstock for $80,000. The Savabeel colt is out of the O’Reilly mare I Que, whose half-sister Ritzy Lady won a Listed New Zealand St Leger.
