South African success for o’reilly

A three-year-old son of the late O’Reilly has earned his first black type victory in South Africa. The Mike de Kock-trained Muwaary won the Gr.3 Graham Beck Stakes at Turffontein at the weekend.

The Jason Abrahams-bred colt had been successful in two of his previous four starts and triumphed in the 1400 metre event by two and a quarter lengths. He was a $A525,000 Sydney Easter Sale yearling and is the first foal out of the Anabaa mare Silently, who is a half-sister to the multiple Group One winner and Melbourne Cup contender Criterion.
