Oaks long-term target for Pins filly

Peter Lock will plot a black type path for Head Spin following the Pins filly’s maiden success at Tauranga. She capped off two recent placings with a stylish victory over 1400 metres to suggest she can make her mark in age group company.
“She’s always showed she wants to go further so we will press on toward the staying races and hopefully she keeps improving,” the Te Aroha trainer said. “We might be looking at the Oaks with her.”
Head Spin settled back from a wide gate and she came with a sustained finish to open her account at her fourth appearance. “I got pushed out a little wide at the 700 so I forged on,” rider Michael Coleman said. “She kept picking up nicely and she showed a bit of strength and courage.”
Head Spin was bred by WS, who have retained an ownership interest in the filly. She is out of the Tale Of The Cat mare Heads Or Tales, who is a half-sister to Good Faith (Gr 1 Ellerslie Sires’ Produce Stakes) and the family of triple top-flight winner Daffodil (AJC Oaks, NZ 1000 Guineas, Windsor Park Plate).
