Pins Colt Leads The Way
2 February 2012

A colt with an impressive black-type background was WS’s leading light on the opening day of the Select Sale at Karaka. The son of resident stallion Pins was knocked down to Singapore-based trainer Cliff Brown for $80,000.
The youngster is out of the Zabeel mare Ethics who is a three-quarter sister to the dual Gr 2 Royal Stakes and Sir Tristram fillies’ Classic winner Lafleur. The headline name in the pedigree is the third dam Habibti who was a champion European three-year-old and winner of the Gr 1 July Cup at Newmarket.
A daughter of Pins out of Zephyr Song made $30,000 and is from the family of the WS graduate Timber Trader who won the Gr 1 South African Derby. Matamata trainer Roger James snapped up a daughter of O’Reilly from a well-performed Australian black-type family for $28,000.
