Royal Stakes next target for Anevay

Great WS Family Strikes Again

The well-related WS-bred and sold sprinter Escadaire took his winning tally into double figures with another black-type victory in the Listed Cyril Flower Stakes at the weekend. The durable seven-year-old produced a determined display to land the 1200 metre event at Ascot.

By O’Reilly, he is out of the Centaine mare Escada and is a half-brother to the Gr 1 winners Glamour Puss (Goodwood Handicap, Salinger Stakes) and Vision And Power (Doncaster Handicap, George Ryder Stakes) and a brother to the Gr 2 winner Rare Insight (Stan Fox Stakes). Escadaire was originally sold by WS at the 2005 Sydney Easter Yearling Sale for $A100,000 to Danny O’Brien.

He won four times from the stable of the leading Victorian trainer before he was transferred to his current Western Australian base. He had previously won at Listed level in the Newmarket Handicap and the Miss Andretti Stakes and has now has 10 wins and nine placings from his 41 career starts.

Escadaire is now trained by Raquel Mills who saved the horse from retirement when managing owners Peter and Kerri Caporn decided to end the gelding’s racing career last year. “When I heard Escadaire was being retired I rang Kerri and asked if I could have a go with the horse,” Mills told the West Australian.
