I Do Makes A Statement At Awapuni
25 April 2012
Genuine four-year-old I Do made an excellent first of her first crack at a metric mile when she cruised home at Awapuni this afternoon. The grey daughter of No Excuse Needed brought consistent form to the event with three placings from her previous four outings and won with authority.
Bred and raced by WS with Taranaki trainer Allan Sharrock, I Do raced on the leader’s quarters and powered right away in the home straight to score by a widening margin. “She was bolting around the turn and kicked away like a good horse,” rider Matthew Cameron said. “She’s been racing in strong fields and I can’t see why she can’t go right through the grades.”
I Do is out of the O’Reilly mare Freequence who is a daughter of the Gr 3 New Zealand St Leger winner Freequent. It is also the family of the Gr 1 Queensland Derby winner Court Ruler and the Australian stakes winner Hi Belle.
