Diademe Continues Winning Habit

Impressive Savabeel mare Diademe continued her march through the grades with a gutsy effort at New Plymouth on Friday. Despite interrupted run, the four-year-old got home in a driving finish to complete a hat-trick of wins from only five appearances.
Trained at Cambridge by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Diademe was purchased by Scott Richardson Bloodstock for $50,000 from WS’s 2010 Karaka draft. She is out of the unraced O’Reilly mare Bling and is a half-sister to the Pins mare Shanstar, who has been a winner in a handful of starts from Richard Collett’s stable.
Bred by Garry Chittick, Diademe’s grand-dam is a sister to the dual Gr.3 winner and Gr.1 performer Starcent (Gold Trail Stakes, Lowland Stakes). It is also the family of the Australian Gr 2 winners Sportsman (Expressway Stakes, Shannon Handicap, Peter Pan Stakes) and Prisoner Of Love (Tea Rose Stakes).

WS-bred On The Lash scores at Sha Tin
Twenty-four hours following the final WS Cox Plate meeting run on the Moonee Valley track of old before it shuts for two years to make way for a new precinct, the race’s 2004 winner, Savabeel, continued his roll of runners, and this time it was via five-year-old On The Lash (ex Candelabra) at Sha Tin.
