Moody unveils another top Savabeel youngster

Peter Moody produced another exciting young prospect by Savabeel at Caulfield this afternoon. Bassett impressed in his winning debut over 1100 metres, a performance that augurs well for his future.

“He did it at both ends, there were horses wanting to take up a position early on and there was plenty of pressure there in the first 300m,” stable representative Jeff O’Connor said. “He was strong at the end as well. He looks like he’s got more than handy ability, he’s got terrific speed for a Savabeel. It’s a great result.”

Moody also prepares Pasadena Girl, Savabeel’s Gr 1 Champagne Stakes winner. She is currently spelling ahead of a spring campaign, but Bassett is likely to race on through the winter. “Peter will make the decision, but I think while we’ve got a horse that’s going super and there is plenty of money to be earned,’ O’Connor said. “I don’t think we’ll be putting him away for the spring just yet.”
