Honour in defeat for Ocean Park filly
Another Dollar’s bid for Group One glory in the Queensland Oaks came up agonisingly short at Doomben this evening.
The daughter of Ocean Park went under by the barest of margins when nabbed on the line by stablemate Youngstar.
Bred and sold by Waikato Stud, the Chris Waller-trained Another Dollar led short of the post, but was undone in the last bound.
The three-year-old has nevertheless come a long way in a short period of time.
Spelled earlier this year after winning one of her first three starts, Another Dollar now has three successive black type seconds.
She was runner-up in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet and filled the same spot in the Gr.2 The Roses before her gallant Oaks effort.
Another Dollar was bred by Waikato Stud and sold at the Sydney Easter Sale to Waller for A$190,000.
She is out of the Pins mare Make A Wish, who won twice and is from the family of the Gr.3 Gloaming Stakes winner Strike the Stars.
