Mark’s Mail – 14 December
We’ve had a busy week on the farm with a great bunch of visitors from New Zealand and Australia through to see our Karaka yearlings. It’s been great fun having people to the farm and we all thoroughly enjoy catching up with and seeing new and old friends at this time of year.
Congratulations to David Ellis, Jamie Richards and the team at Te Akau Racing for the very smart win with two-year-old Savabeel gelding Aotea Lad in the Group 2 Wakefield Stakes last weekend. David’s strike-rate with buying top performing progeny of Savabeel truly is second to none and it’s great to see Jamie’s training career really going from strength to strength.
Ocean Park has had an excellent week on the track, siring a double at Hastings and six winners in the last seven days. Adding to the great run our racing team has had recently was Ocean Park mare Together who won very well on Wednesday at Hastings.
We’re really looking forward to watching Love Affair in the Group 2 Cal Isuzu Stakes at Te Rapa tomorrow – happy racing everyone!

WS-breds shine at the Racing Victoria Off The Track Carnival
Last weekend saw many retired racehorses and their careers compete in various disciplines, and one star who shone brightly was Eden Pearson’s 10-year-old ott horse, Tango. Once racing as Does It (Pins ex Just Be Cos), Tango raced 45 times, winning on five occasions and accumulating prizemoney of $275,550 before retiring in June 2024.

David Hayes’ Absolute Awakened wins at Sha Tin
With Hong Kong’s new season just two weeks in, it wasn’t long before the progeny of Ardrossan stepped into the winners’ circle and at the second Sha Tin race meeting of the season, it was David Hayes’ Absolute Awakened who won by a length over 1400m.
