Garry’s Corner – 8 February 2019

Garry Chittick

I have told the two of you, my readers, the Corner is not to be expected weekly. Why well seriously I don’t want to appear negative, I don’t want to appear unappreciative for all the support we have had recently, but single finger typing takes time. More importantly, something has to strike a chord, inspire me, or even humor me.

Just as I was about to surrender my space in the popular Weekend at Waikato, inspiration. Lo and behold, a vision to excite, our Chief Executive of Thoroughbred Racing appears on my iPad in a wet suit and snorkel. Not a vision of excellence but I was inspired to think here is our first Chief Executive to put his head under water to get a clearer and similar feeling to all his constituent owners. Then, I realised this was a double purposed exercise, he could have been searching the Wellington Harbour for our well-hidden Racing Board Chief Executive and his Chairperson.

Not sure what species he would identify them as, but definitely difficult to catch. The usual bait MONEY would quickly turn to mush of not enough value to tempt them, however, in the murky waters, they function to avoid the threat being speared they will surrender to promises of things to come, you know like we do. So fish away Bernard. If you catch them, anchor them to the fixed odds betting platform, it’s going nowhere. Cheers G
