Pedigree Picks with Mike Rennie – 7 June
Sacred Falls got off the mark with Shoshone impressively winning on debut over 1200m at Ellerslie on Monday.
She is out of Zabeel mare Dee I Why – representing a strong cross with 76% winners and 5% stakes winners to runners. We should see this trend continue with Savabeel mares given his affinity over the O’Reilly sireline. The nick is currently producing 64% winners and 4% stakes winners to runners.
On this note, Michael Clements has Pattaya debuting in the $75,000 maiden in Singapore on Sunday night. He is by Sacred Falls out of the Savabeel mare Do Ra Mi. He won his trial on 30th May by 6.5L and speaking with Michael he should run well. Also bred on the O’Reilly/Zabeel nick is Champagne Toots (Sacred Falls) who takes her place in Saturday’s Gr.1 1600m JJ Atkins at Eagle Farm. She is out of the Reset (Zabeel) mare Apollo’s Pride.
It would be remiss to not mention Kolding (Ocean Park ex Magic Star by Danzero) who’s the $2.40 favourite for the Queensland Guineas and going for four straight wins. In the same race, Ocean Park also has Ocean Waves (ex Cape City Flyer by Volksraad). Both represent the Thorn Park/Danzig cross while Kolding more specifically via Danehill, a figure we certainly encourage with Ocean Park.
