Bargain pay winning dividend

Ocean Park filly Bargain capped off two solid efforts since returning from a break with victory at Newcastle this afternoon.

The lightly-raced Waikato Stud 3-year-old posted her maiden success for trainer Mark Newnham and rider Josh Parr over 1400 metres.

Bargain is a half-sister to four winners, with their dam Shopaholic successful five times, including victories in the G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes and the G3 Vanity Stakes.

She is a daughter of the G3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes and G1 Ascot Vale Stakes runner-up Splashing Out and she is also the dam of the Group winners Splurge and Packing Pins.

It is a family that also features the four-time Group 1 winner and late Waikato Stud sire Sacred Falls. Other top-flight winners in the pedigree include Star Dancer, Vonusti and Omnicorp.
