Sacred Falls filly debuts in style

The well-related Waimoku Falls delivered an early return on her purchase price with a perfect debut performance this afternoon at Tauranga.

A daughter of Sacred Falls, she was a trial winner earlier this month and stylishly carried that form over to race day for the proven duo of trainer Stephen McKee and rider Sam Spratt.

The Waikato Stud-bred and sold 3-year-old, who holds Group 1 entries for the New Zealand 1000 and 2000 Guineas, cruised along in the trail and once she was angled into clear air in the run home lengthened stride impressively.

Waimoku Falls was purchased by Go Racing for $140,000 at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale and is a daughter of the unraced Savabeel mare Honolulu, dam of Rellson who was Group placed in Hong Kong and as Sacred Capital has won three times at Listed level in Macau.

Honolulu is a half-sister to the four-time Group 1 winner and producer Alamosa and the family of the G1 Schweppes Oaks winner Lights of Heaven and Dal Cielo, successful in the G1 Diamond Stakes.
