Family comes first again for Waikato Stud
One of Waikato Stud’s best performed families served it well at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale at Riverside Stables this afternoon.
The Matamata farm offered a son of Savabeel, Lot 117, through Jamie Beatson’s Ohukia Lodge draft and the colt was the subject of spirited bidding before he was knocked down to Trent Busuttin, who trains with partner Natalie Young at Cranbourne, for AU$330,000.
The youngster is a grandson of the Chittick family’s two-time Group 1 winner Glamour Puss, a half-sister to Vision and Power who also triumphed twice at the elite level.
“It was a very good result and Trent has got himself another good one,” stud principal Mark Chittick said. “He trained Savabeel’s son Sangster to win the G1 VRC Derby and now he’s got one of this year’s favourites Albarado.
“He’s by Savabeel as well so you don’t have to be Einstein, he’s just continuing to do what works for him.”
The Savabeel colt Busuttin purchased at the Ready2Race is out of the winning O’Reilly mare Simply You and the pedigree page also features the G1 Coolmore Classic and G2 Breeders’ Classic winner Steps in Time.
