Savabeel Colt Provides Early Fireworks

Savabeel

Waikato Stud made an early impact during the opening session of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when its Savabeel colt caught the attention of a trio of industry heavyweights.

Presented as Lot 21 in the Sledmere Stud draft, the youngster had widespread admirers and it was
the China Horse Club, Newgate and Mitchell Bloodstock that had the final say as they signed the
ticket at AU$520,000.

One of four Savabeel yearlings entered in the auction by the Matamata farm, he is a half-brother to
O’Reilly’s daughter Bonny O’Reilly, who won the Listed Helen Coughlan S. and to the Ocean park
mare, successful in the Listed Hallmark Stud S.

Their dam is the Pins mare Pretty and she hails from one of the nursery’s best-performed families
and within its ranks are the two-time Group 1-winning half-siblings Glamour Puss and Vision And
Power.

Other notable names in the pedigree are the G1 Coolmore Classic heroine Steps In Time and G2
Thousand Guineas Prelude winner Acting.

The combination of a multiple champion stallion and a top-class race mare proved attractive to the
buying bench when Lot 105 made her way into the ring.

The Savabeel colt out of the G1 Futurity S. and G1 CF Orr S. winner was knocked down to Warwick
Farm trainer Bjorn Baker and Clarke Bloodstock for $360,000.

Suavito is a half-sister to the G3 Swap Contractors Sprint winner Sultan Of Swing, who also finished
runner-up in the G1 Windsor Park Plate and an international flavour added by the fourth dam Nicer
(Ire) (Pennine Walk {Ire}), successful in the Irish 1000 Guineas.

Prominent owner Brae Sokolski liked what he saw of Savabeel’s daughter, Lot 49, and went to
AU$200,000 to take her home.

The filly is a sister to the G3 Eagle Technology S. winner and G2 Cal Isuzu S. runner-up Love Affair and
they are out of the unraced O’Reilly mare Romancing.

She is a sister to the Listed Winter Championship S. winner Salsa, dam of South African stakes winner
Diamond King, and the family of the G3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup winner Somepin Anypin.
