Giant casts tall winning shadow

Domestic racing resumed this afternoon and provided Sacred Giant with an opportunity at Ashburton to post a belated opening victory of his career.
The strapping Waikato Stud-bred and sold son of Sacred Falls is now in the care of Terri Rae and she had him forward to make his New Zealand debut and the result was a convincing victory.
The 5-year-old sat in a handy spot and one off the fence before rider Krishna Mudhoo peeled three wide before the turn and they sailed home by 2.5l.
Sacred Giant was purchased out of Waikato Stud’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $170,000 by Upper Bloodstock.
He trialled four times from Ben Foote’s stable before relocating to Francis Lui’s Hong Kong team, but following one unplaced run earlier this year he returned home.
From the Group 1 family of Glamour Puss, Sacred Giant is out of the winning Pins mare Enjoy who produced an Ocean Park colt in 2020 before she was served by Savabeel.
