Ciccina continues winning habit

Ciccina has been in outstanding touch this preparation and the mare enjoyed further success at the Gold Coast on Saturday afternoon.
Bred and sold by Waikato Stud, the daughter of Savabeel gave her Class 2 rivals weight and a beating as the Kris Lees-trained 4-year-old made light of her 59kg impost on the way to victory over 1400 metres.
Ciccina was sent for a break after she was unplaced on debut earlier this year and she has come back in terrific order.
She successfully resumed at Taree and was then fourth at Scone under 61kg before winning at Coff’s Harbour and today made it three wins from five appearances.
Ciccina was purchased at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale by agent Bruce Perry for $300,000 on behalf of owner Lib Petagna.
She is a daughter of the unraced O’Reilly mare Baby Shacks, who is a sister to the G2 Makybe Diva S. winner Vigor and the G2 Avondale Guineas winner Joey Massino and a half-sister to Vincent Mangano, successful in the first running of the R. Listed Karaka Million.
All four of Baby Shacks’ foals to race have been successful and she had a Tivaci filly last year and is in foal to Super Seth.
