Masterful display at Sha Tin

Savabeel

Master Hero has doubled his winning tally in Hong Kong with his latest success for trainer Tony Cruz.

The patiently-handled 5-year-old son of Savabeel resumed over 1400 metres at Sha Tin on Sunday evening and overcame a tough run for the second win of his 12-start career, that also features a further six placings.

“The horse didn’t have everything his own way, he had to face the breeze and didn’t let us down,” jockey Joao Moreira told the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

“I’ve had faith in this horse for a long time and the trainer and his team have done a fantastic job to get this horse back to resume in this way.”

Master Hero was bred by Waikato Stud and sold to the Hong Kong Jockey Club at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale at Karaka for $500,000.

He is a brother to the two-time Group 1 winner Savvy Coup, who at the end of her career was purchased by Coolmore’s Tom Magnier for AU$1 million at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Their dam is the unraced Pins mare Eudora, a sister to the Group winners Legless Veuve and Tootsie and the family of the three-time Group 1 winner Probabeel and the recent G3 Gold Trail S. winner Bellacontte.
