Champagne success for Savabeel at Hastings

Savabeel

Savy Yong Blonk became the 24th individual Group 1 winner for Waikato Stud’s super stallion Savabeel when she triumphed in the Livamol Classic at Hastings.

A sibling to Australian Group 2 winner Adelaide Ace, Savy Yong Blonk is out of the Pins mare Ampin, a three-quarter sister to the G3 Gloaming S. winner and G1 Australian Guineas runner-up Strike The Stars.

The Jamie Richards-trained Savy Yong Blonk was given a perfect ride by Danielle Johnson and made her move to loom into contention with 400 metres to run.

Angled the widest in the home straight, Savy Yong Blonk produced a sustained burst of speed to  capture a valuable elite level victory.

“Danielle gave her a lovely ride. She is off to visit Super Seth and we will then race her on and hope to pick-up another one Group 1 if we can,” Richards said. “I am absolutely thrilled she has a Group 1 now as she thoroughly deserves it.”

Bred and raced by Jim and Bill Gartshore, under their Gartshore Bloodstock banner, Savy Yong Blonk has now won eight of her 27 starts and more than $485,000 in prizemoney.
