So easy at Tauranga for Shoshone

Sacred Falls

Waikato Stud graduate Shoshone enjoyed little more than a track gallop to claim top honours in the open sprint handicap at Tauranga on Saturday afternoon.

The Ken and Bev Kelso-trained daughter of Sacred Falls was quickly into stride and jockey Erin Leighton had a tight grip on the mare at the top of the straight.

When slipped a little more rein, the 5-year-old bolted clear and under a kind ride to the post still had 4.5l on her closest rival.

Now the winner of six of her 18 starts, Shoshone was secured at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $150,000 by Ken Kelso and Waterford Bloodstock.

She is out of the Zabeel mare Dee I Why, who is a daughter of the Listed Champagne S. winner Playful Fingers and she is a half-sister to the South African Group 3 winner Hancock Park. It is also the family of the G1 Orr S. winner Manuel.
