Oceanic Flash one to follow

Further successes await Oceanic Flash if the ease of his breakthrough success at Newcastle on Saturday afternoon is any guide.

The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained son of Sacred Falls was sent out a commanding favourite and his army of supporters never had any concerns.

From the outside stall, rider Mitchell Bell settled him fifth on the outer before peeling three-wide to improve 500 metres from home.

The lightly raced 4-year-old held a sustained run to leave the rest of the field in his wake and coasted home by 3.75l.

Oceanic Flash was sold at Karaka by Waikato Stud for $140,000 and is a half-brother to the G2 Wellington Guineas winner President Lincoln.

They are out of the Pentire mare Pinot Gris, who is a daughter of the prolific winner Covered N’ Grey. She won on 24 occasions, including success in the G2 Travis S.
