Ocean Park’s son strikes at Sha Tin

Ocean Park

Light Of Wanshi doubled his winning account in Hong Kong on Sunday evening when the son of Ocean Park accounted for his Class 4 rivals at Sha Tin.

Trained by Chris So, he was making his first appearance for a month, but a lead-up trial placing ensured he was well-backed in his return over 1600 metres in the hands of Zac Purton and the combination was untroubled to justify the support.

Light Of Wanshi, who had broken his maiden in May, was bred and sold by Waikato Stud at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale to Dean Hawthorne’s Anzac Lodge for $75,000 and was a Te Aroha trial winner before relocating to Hong Kong.

He is a half-brother to six winners, including Savabeel’s daughter Placement who won of five occasions and finished third in the G1 VRC Oaks.

Their dam is the O’Reilly mare Lucida, who is out of the dual Group 3 winner Starcent and her Group 1-performed daughter Ambitious produced the G3 Gloaming S. winner and G1 Australian Guineas runner-up Strike The Stars.

The pedigree page also features the G1 Livamol Classic winner Savy Yong Blank and the G1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce S. runner-up I Wish I Win.
