Hasabro claims Wingatui feature

Savabeel

Hasabro defied his topweight to land top honours in the Listed Hazlett S. at Wingatui on Boxing Day afternoon and continue his impressive run of form since relocating to the South Island.

Under 60kg, the Waikato Stud graduate followed the leading pack on the fence before rider Jacob Lowry eased the son of Savabeel off the rail across the top.

The genuine 6-year-old finished determinedly in the straight to post his third victory since joining Andrew Carston’s Riccarton stable following the retirement of his former trainer Stephen McKee.

Hasabro was bred by Waikato Stud with leading Sydney trainer John O’Shea’s wife Isabelle and was a $220,000 Karaka purchase for Albert Bosma’s Go Racing syndication company, who also raced his G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas-winning sister Hasahalo.

They are out of the Encosta De Lago mare Halloween, who is from the family of Savabeel’s Group-winning sons Savvy Nature and Addictive Nature.
