Do I breaks maiden with ease

Tivaci’s well-bred son Do I opened his winning account in fine style at Ararat this afternoon.

The powerful grey four-year-old ran up to his rich pedigree with a commanding performance to score over 1308 metres for trainer Michael Moroney and rider Fred Kersley.

He was bred by Waikato Stud’s Mark Chittick and leading Taranaki trainer Alan Sharrock, who enjoyed outstanding success with the dam I Do, whose 15 victories included the G1 Makfi Challenge S.

Do I went back to the tail of the field today from the outside gate before angling widest on the turn and he stormed home to win going away by three and a-quarter lengths.

“He was certainly impressive and I’ve had a little bit to do with him at home and he always gives me a nice feel,” Kersley said.

“I really think he enjoyed the soft ground and with the step back in trip and the blinkers on he really found the line.”

Do I is a half-brother to the multiple winner Kiss The Bride and their mother I Do has a yearling filly by Super Seth, she foaled a colt by the Group 1-winning son of Dundeel last season and is in foal to Noverre.
