Smart ride brings out best in Tivaci’s son

A canny ride from Billy Egan guided the well-bred Do I to a second career victory when he was
successful at Seymour on Tuesday afternoon.

The Michael Moroney-trained four-year-old settled three back on the fence and improved near the rail across the top before rounding off strongly in the heavy conditions to score over 1600 metres.

“I was happy to stick toward the inside and wanted to save as much ground as I could,” Egan said.

“It was a very good performance, he did a really good job to win.”

A son of Tivaci, Do I was bred by Waikato Stud and New Plymouth trainer Allan Sharrock who prepared the grey’s mother I Do to win 15 races with her career highlight a victory in the G1 Makfi Challenge S.

Also twice successful at Group 3 level, the No Excuse Needed mare I Do is a half-sister to the Listed Queensland Cup winner Iggy Pop and the family of Sharrock’s current multiple stakes winner Justaskme.

I Do, whose first foal Kiss The Bride is a nine-time winner, has a yearling filly by Super Seth and foaled a colt to the Group 1-winning son of Dundeel last season and is now in foal to Noverre.
