Savabeel 3YO gets her reward

Savabeel

Savabeel filly Booboo Boogie posted a deserved and overdue maiden victory at Geelong on Friday afternoon when she powered home to win over 1400 metres.

The Danny O’Brien-trained three-year-old had been placed in four of her previous eight appearances, including an unlucky runner-up finish on the course last month.

Booboo Boogie settled three back on the fence and the Waikato Stud graduate was out in the nick of time 250 metres off the post to power home for a nose decision under rider Linda Meech.

“I’m glad she got her head in front, it was a well-deserved win,” stable representative Beau Dunn said.

“We’ve been training her a bit differently, she used to go down the beach and now we keep her ticking over at home and she barely leaves the farm.

“It was good to see her breakthrough, she’s always been thereabouts.”

Booboo Boogie was secured by O’Brien and agent Bruce Perry at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $280,000.

A sister to multiple winner Oso Savvy, she is a daughter of the Pins mare Heyday who is out of a sister to the G1 Arrowfield Stud S. winner Sixty Seconds and the G3 Manawatu Classic winner Spottswoode.

Top-flight winners Legs and Guyno are also members of this potent Waikato Stud family.
