I don’t know if the two of you have ever had the thrill of travelling at high speed across the water on a single ski, totally dependent on the driver of the boat. Fall off and you are left treading water, reminds you of racing. Here we are, with multiple hints of navigation hanging on to the rope hoping for salvation.
Whilst gasping for breath, the numbers flash past. You see, despite multiple communications from our navigators, we are yet to feel the pull of the rope tightening; we will be happy just to surface, skim along knowing we can return another day. Those flashing numbers whilst treading water made little sense, what is so complicated in our sport that we, the real participants, are kept in the dark. We are fed so much information of little substance, we of course wonder which map our navigators are following, or are they confident they can redraw the charts.
The recent so-called ‘reclassification’ is clouded with three levels, then divided into A and B. No funding distribution available yet, but we are comforted when we now can see, despite all the innuendo, the dates are subject to only a couple of changes.
Our new six General Managers, with the guidance of a new CEO, will be feeling the burden of reinventing the wheel. May I suggest, at the risk of repeating myself, cut the waffling communications to a level where they make sense.
My guess is, it is looking increasingly difficult to see how, in two years’ time, how half our gross profit is going to keep our head above water. Am I surprised, no. Did I expect it well I am not, I expressed my doubts at the meetings I attended promoting the deal. I hope I am wrong, I will need to be to avoid sinking at the end of the rope.
Still, it was great to see Hastings in action again. Can someone inform us on what is happening at Awapuni..?
Fortunately, there are still those to give their time because of their enthusiasm for our sport, why wouldn’t they, nothing more exciting than the winning of a race. A lot warmer than behind the boat.
